On August 29, 2021, at 07:17 UTC, from Kennedy Space Center’s historic Launch Site 39A, the launch site of the legendary Apollo 11 mission in 1969, SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket blasted off toward the International Space Station, carrying 455 Spacefox-designed patches . The mission, designated CRS-23, was to provide food and supplies to astronauts residing on the ISS.

Orbiting the Earth at an altitude varying between 370 and 460 km and moving at a speed of 27,600 km/h, the International Space Station completes an orbit every 93 minutes, thus making more than 15 orbits of the Earth each day. Therefore, each of the patches has completed 479 Earth orbits before returning to Earth .
